Scrapbook Attic marks 4th year
Downtown Fremont store is expanding
News-Messenger report
How many times have you shared a memory or a story with someone?
Have you looked at photographs and wondered about the names of the faces staring back at you?
Perhaps this is the time to create your own scrapbook to preserve the names and faces so they will not be forgotten through the generations.
Scrapbook Attic is expanding in its fourth year of business. The expansion, formerly Sugarless, retains the same antique charm while displaying the continuous shipment of new products.
Among the new space is an expanded die cut center and work space.
The crop work space has tripled in size, with spacious seating to accommodate 24 people, as well as crops every Friday.
The store hours also have expanded to 7 p.m. Fridays.
Next Saturday, Scrapbook Attic will celebrate four years of business in downtown Fremont.
Festivities include a crop evening from 5 to 11 Friday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.
Cost is $35 for both days.
Debbie Haas, author of “Chicken Soup for the Scrapbooker’s Soul,” will be signing and selling her book from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Scrapbook Attic owners Lynn Monday and Tracy Harvey also are making changes to celebrate the four years. They have traded in their bandage scissors as nurses to attend to the store full time.
The business originally opened its doors Sept. 14, 2002, at 218 S. Front St. Old family heirlooms display countless products, giving customers the feeling of home.
Within four years, the store has offered creative ways to introduce new people to scrapbooking, as well as entertain the regular customers.
These include a 90-second shopping spree to the winner of a random drawing, a garage sale biannually to sell unused products in return for store coupons, a 1950’s annual celebration in July, a Birthday Club to save money the week of your birthday, frequenting trade shows to bring new products back to the store, personalized items, holiday saving incentives and a variety of scrapbook classes to fit every level of creativity.
Albums, paper, ribbon, titles, stickers and die cuts are available in the colors of local schools. The shop soon will carry items for Bowling Green State University and University of Toledo Rockets, in addition to the current selection for the schools of Fremont, Clyde, Oak Harbor, Bellevue, Perkins, Gibsonburg, Woodmore and Old Fort.
If you are a new bride or mother, Scrapbook Attic will send you a homemade card with a 20 percent coupon as warm congratulations on the new chapter in your life.
Newsletters are sent out every few months that remind customers of the products and services that are offered.
Crop nights are offered and include beverages, dessert and laughter. Dinner is provided with the 12-hour crop days. Sign-up with payment is requested prior to crop.
If you complete 20 pages or just organize your supplies, this is a fun way to meet new people and share ideas. Work space is available to host birthday parties, clubs, or other special gatherings.
