Ah, Halloween.
Free candy and dressing up what’s not to like?
I started trick or treating when I started to walk. I used to hide behind my sister and brother when we went out for candy. People always noticed me and gave a special treat for the shy trick-or-treater!
For as long as I can remember, Halloween night has been really cold. Besides the costume, I have had to put on a coat to keep me warm. Usually around 6 p.m., little kids started ringing the bell to kick off the event.
When I was younger, I dressed up as a pumpkin until I grew out of the costume
Over the years, I became Cinderella, a witch, complete with a cauldron and a tall, pointy hat, and Snow White. I’ve always been fascinated with all the fancy costumes.
This year, at 14, I’ve changed the costume yet again to Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz”!
This year’s Halloween was especially memorable, because it was the first time I spent it with my friends instead of my siblings. I attended my friend Mel’s Halloween party the Friday before.
Right after school, Melody, Jen, and I went over to Mel’s house to help decorate and set up. We strung “cobwebs” all over lamps and candles and made tombstones out of cardboard.
And then came the food.
