Cut, Paste, Glue, Stick: The Art of Scrapbooking

An evening of scrapbooking — a popular hobby for women and girls these days — was held last month at Congregation Beth Or in Maple Glen.

Liz Kaufman and Jamie Pestrack organized the event, in which eight women laden with supplies sat around long work tables in a synagogue multipurpose room, ready to get going. Participants lugged tote bags filled with albums, scissors, paper trimmers, paper shapers, glue, tape runners, corner rounders, family photographs, ribbon, buttons and other decorative elements. In no time, the area was filled with the sounds of scissors snipping or the blade of a paper-cutter slicing.

The women also meet on a weekly basis in one another’s homes to work on their projects. They relish these nights out, when they come away with something concrete.
