Why Would I Start Scrapbooking?

A picture is worth a thousand words, so I am trying something new.

The mega-blog has a new feature called DJ’s scrapbook. Just between us… it’s horrible freaking title. I have scrapbooked exactly 0 times and I have no future plans to launch a scrapbook career unless there is Alfonso Soriano type money involved, in which case I have always loved scrapbooking.

I am not an artist. My dad is, my cousin in L.A. is, my cousin in N.Y. is, but apparently I skipped the artist DNA line. I don’t draw, I don’t paint, and I don’t take photos of the kids, my wife handles that. But this old dog is learning a new trick.

They gave me KUTV’s digital camera Saturday night and I was strolling around the Delta Center like a tourist. The camera hanging around my neck, fans staring at me and mumbling to their spouses “look honey, radio in the morning , TV at night, not nearly enough sleep, DJ finally snapped like I knew he would.

Actually I was just taking photos for the scrapbook. Then I put some random thoughts in the cutlines. It is pretty easy and it is what we have done for years at the Delta Center. We watch a little basketball, and we do a lot of people watching, sprinkled in with inane commentary, bizarre observations, but no off-color, politically incorrect humor, as far as you know.

By clicking thru these scrapbooks you will discover how frighteningly shallow our minds really are. I am sure that is exactly what management had in mind when they gave me a camera.
