Help needed for Croyde scrapbook
INFORMATION is wanted for the creation of a coastal scrapbook for Croyde.
The North Devon Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty organisation is on Saturday running the first of a series of events to collect information on the recent history of the coastline there.
The Croyde scrapbook will complete a series of five produced by the North Devon Voluntary Marine Conservation Association covering the coastline from Hangman Point in Combe Martin through Woolacombe Sands to Down End in Croyde.
Janine Holbert, North Devon AONB Volunteer Co-ordinator, said: “We hope to tap into local knowledge and discover which elements of coastal, natural history have endured in living memory. These could include pictures, a few words, old photos, old stories or tales of shipwrecking, local folk lore, old maps or accounts of places you loved to spend time.”
Anyone with information to share should visit Braunton Countryside Centre on Saturday between 12 noon and 2pm to find out more about the project and contribute memories to this archive.
