Scrapbooking @ Target

by Marcy

I have been keeping a scrapbook, of and on, for about 12 years, ever since a family friend started selling us Creative Memories supplies and convincing my mom and sisters of the wonders of collecting photos and making them into art on a page. I’ve enjoyed scrapbooking, and have gradually gotten bolder in my page designs– originally working mostly on blank pages with pictures cut out into cute shapes, growing to using more colors and decorations over time. For a long time most of my scrapbooking supplies came from said family friend, or occasional trips to craft stores like Michael’s.

In the past few years scrapbooking has become a much more popular hobby, with specialty stores springing up all over the place. Yet one of my favorite places to shop for scrapbooking supplies is Target. Target tends to have affordable, quality products like scrapbooks and colored paper, along with fun decorations like stickers or fun lettering to adorn your pages. One of my favorite brands carried by Target is Marcella by K. I’ve grown fond of the designs they use on their stickers and papers.

I just discovered today that in addition to going into Target stores, I can also order scrapbooking supplies online at Target.com! This is nice, as my local Target doesn’t always have the largest supply (I’ve found the Target near my mom’s house in Austin, TX has a much better scrapbooking aisle!) so I can browse online for items I can’t find in-store.

For scrapbooking experts, there’s a huge variety of paper packs and stencils to experiment with to create elaborate pages. Novices can buy a scrapbook kit that includes the album along with decorative paper and embellishments, so as not to get overwhelmed by having to search, unaided, through all the different products available.

I have really enjoyed scrapbooking, as a way to keep memories alive (with pictures and their stories side by side) in a way that traditional photo albums just can’t compete with. If you’re a fellow scrapbooker, or just thinking of trying it out, definitely stop by the scrapbooking aisle on your next Target shopping trip. =)
