Grant lets students create scrapbooks
Advocate staff report
East Ascension High School Spanish teacher Gisela Gautreaux’s students created scrapbooks thanks to a $1,000 grant from the Ascension Fund.
Gautreaux’s winning grant project, “Picture This, paid for the materials and equipment students needed to create their own class scrapbook in the language they are studying.
The grant “provides excellent translation activities and allows the student to use a new language for personal enjoyment and enrichment, student Brittany Duplessis said.
“This project also creates a feeling of community among the students collaborating on each scrapbook and it brings out student creativity, Duplessis added.
“I was very excited to receive this grant and thrilled to be able to provide a creative project for my students, Gautreaux said.
The grant was made possible through a Whitney National Bank Endowment Grant to the Ascension Fund.
